Remap a Starburst connection

Starting in May 2022, ThoughtSpot rebranded pinboards as Liveboards. For backward compatibility, we currently support internal processes and external methods that use the older naming convention.

You can modify the parameters of your connection to the Starburst database by changing the source mapping tml file. ThoughtSpot creates this file automatically, to record the details of the new or updated connections.

Before remapping the existing table or column, ThoughtSpot recommends that you check all dependencies (data sources, formulas, answers, filters, Liveboards), to ensure that they display correctly.

To remap a Starburst connection, follow these steps:

  1. Click Data in the top navigation bar.

  2. Click the Connections tab at the top of the page.

  3. Find the name of the connection.

    • Sort each column: Connection name, Connection type, _Modified (date), or Author.

    • Search on these categories.

  4. Click the name of the connection.

  5. Click the icon more 10px (More) icon on the upper right, and from the drop-down menu select Remapping.

  6. In the Remapping window, click sign download Download.

This saves the definition of your connection to your local directory.

  7. Edit the file as needed, and save it.

  8. Finally, click Browse your files, and upload your edited mapping file to update your connection.
